Don't Be An Idiot, Get A DivaCup

Maybe this is just a product of my recent indoctrination into an ultra-feminist liberal arts masters program, but I don't think women talk about their vaginas enough. Maybe I'm just feeling that way because I wrote a review of Allyson Mitchell's Hungry Purse for my curatorial studies class last week, which involved standing inside a giant knitted vagina at the Textile Museum. Maybe all this talking, writing and standing about inside giant knitted vaginas has made me somewhat over-comfortable in discussing vaginas on the internet, but here I go anyway...
I recently decided to switch to the DivaCup, a reusable silicone menstrual cup that you use in place of a tampon. They cost about $35 and are built to last a lifetime. I made the switch mostly for environmental reasons, but I have been pleasantly surprised by how much the DivaCup trumps tampons in every aspect of its use. There is absolutely no reason that all women shouldn't be using this product.
In my efforts to endorse the DivaCup, I've been talking to a lot of my female friends about it. Quite frequently, they'll respond by saying, "Oh yeah, I'm wearing one right now. It changed my life" and will follow up by emphatically gushing about it in the same way I am now. It's frustrating that we don't talk about these things more often, because I might have started using a DivaCup years ago. So if I approach you and start talking about eco-friendly menstrual solutions, I'm sorry if that weirds you out, but I'm just trying to get the conversation started.
You can buy DivaCups on the Lunapads website or through Grassroots.

Words you shouldn't use in a review for a product like this: gushing.
