Vintage Bollywood Dance Off

You got served, Vyjayanthimala.
Metafilter had an excellent thread today about Bollywood dancer Helen, whose Anglo-Burmese ethnic background and sultry hip thrusts earned her many a vamp role but very few leads. It links to a 1973 Merchant-Ivory documentary called Helen, Queen of the Nautch Girls which is interesting to watch for its ridiculous assertion that [...]

The Great ‘08 Toronto Explosion

When Alice fell through the rabbit hole, she tore a rift between our two universes. Through this open rift, “nonsense” began leaking out of Wonderland. With a decreasing amount of nonsense, Wonderland became a more logical place, and since vanishing cats and [...]

Pants Are So Awesome

Dear Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,
When you first came out in 2005, I was 22 and considered myself way too old for teen movies. Too old and “too cool”. Oh, how wrong I was…
I heard from a couple female friends shortly after your DVD release that you were a really good movie, but I did [...]
