After some stealthy google-fu and amateur translating skills, the answers to these questions seem quite simple.

Brisa Roché is a San Francisco-born, Paris-based singer who is big in the alterna-jazz rock scene in France, has only just broken into Belgium, Portugal and Switzerland, and will likely be the next big thing here after her album Takes drops in North America this November.

Roché is a little bit Björk in look and lilt. She seems a little bit batshit crazy like Björk too, but appears to reign just enough of her batshit craziness in to become palatable to the mainstream while retaining indie cred. Songs like “Heavy Dreaming” and “Breathe in Speak Out” make me simultaneously think “Sophia Coppola montage!” and “Cell phone commercial!” “Whisper” and “Ali Baba” make me think, “I’d probably pay good money to see this live at Lee’s Palace with dudes in tight jeans and blazers.” A pretty sweet mix of impressions, if I do say so!
