Caturday, May 30

Courtney bought me this ridiculous Chippendales nail file in Vegas. I love it. So does Charlie.
Unfortunately, Julio (that’s Mr. Nail File’s name) has a giant bite mark in his face now.

Cultural Preservation: China, ur doing it wrong

This post is a sequel to “Intercultural Dialogue: Italy, ur doing it wrong“. Maybe I should start a column where I tell other countries they suck while promoting the supremacy of Canadian-style cultural policy.
There’s an excellent article by Michael Wines in the New York Times today about the demolition of the Old City of [...]

Making Faces

Things with faces:
1. You, probably.
2. Me, definitely.
3. The video for “Two Weeks” off the new Grizzly Bear album Veckatimest (above). Holy crap, this album is incredible; you need to get it. The facial movements in the video are mesmerizing.

I love Ellen and everything Ellen does. I was a huge fan of her sitcom in the mid-1990’s. I had her book, My Point…and I do have one, which is hilarious btw. I even enjoyed the critical flop Mr. Wrong, which also starred one of my other favourite celebrities, Bill Pullman. And obviously Finding Nemo [...]

Remember BOP and Tiger Beat?

Well, now they’re on the internet! Some things never change…

Some items of note:

Pink
Purple
Stars (the five-pointed ones)
Stars (the squeaky-clean teen dream ones)
FIVE instances of the word 3-D
That Jonas Brother with the cravat is clearly the Isaac Hanson of the bunch. However, with time Isaac Hanson has much improved. I’m crossing my fingers for you, Kevin.
Bop TV [...]

Stupid Bee

Gahh! I hate this stupid bee!!!
Every day, it comes and hovers in the middle of my deck. It, or one of its ancestors, did this all last summer too. I try to coexist with it, but it dive bombs me when I’m sitting on the deck floor trying to do yoga in the sun. And [...]
