I've seen the harp player in Athens and this Met one doesn't look Cycladic to me -- what cycladic sculpture has lips like this one? Or ears? The arms are missing in the one in Athens, and someone was clearly guessing, not very intelligently, when trying to construct them.

The one in Athens has a wonderful timelessness that this one doesn't come within a thousand miles of. Shame on the Met for being taken in. I'd like to know what their "scientific" evidence is.

I know nothing about "Cycladic" things, but I do know a bit about "shit that looks fake," and that there is one of 'em. When I saw the photo in my news feed, I thought the piece was something you picked up from a bad local sculptor.

I know even less than you, and I think it's fake! Ipso facto, it is fake.
