Bruce Haynes:

Iam SO glad to see all these pictures. I went to school with ALL these guys, (my dad was Russell Haynes, Industrial Arts Teacher at ENSS). These pictures bring back a lot of happy memories. Randy, Danny and I along with Tom Philips played in a stage band for high school musicals (I played slide trombone). Our standard warmup was “Wipeout”. The last time I saw these guys perform would have been September 1971 at the grad ceremonies. Please say hello to your Dad Randy and all the other members if they are still in the area (I know Danny is a lawyer in Brighton). I have been with the City of Calgary for 24 years and have lived out west since 1970, when I came out to join the RCMP. If Randy or any of the guys want to contact me, my email address is bruce.haynes@calgary.ca. Thanks again. —Bruce Haynes, a.k.a. L’il Abner circa 1970

Lori Blande:

Had an email from “Juicy Brucy” Haynes telling me about finding the information. I have fond memories of ENSS and the Westbury Union days. Often wonder where everyone landed in the years between then and now. I am in Winnipeg, ‘retired’ and now self-employed – working (not very hard) at 3 jobs. That is when I am not travelling. Would love to hear from anyone in the ’65 – 70 era from ENSS. Will pass the information on to those I am still in touch with. —Lori Blande

The most depressing thing is that Danny Thompson who one occasionally runs across in court (he is now a lawyer in Brighton) doesn’t look much different than in those days while the rest of us have turned into old people. Someone needs to check his backyard for a fountain of youth. Or maybe he made pact with the devil. —Elaine Forbes McCallum

Karen Cranfield Parker:

These photos certainly bring back many memories. I too went to ENSS with these guys, played in the band, and was also (and still today remain) friends. We recently had dinner together with Sharon and Dave, Danny and Laurie and saw Randy and Nancy after many many years. We laughed so hard our sides ached. It was like we had seen them all last month.
Thank you Karen ( apparently my namesake) for putting this together. I have forwarded the information on to others, so they too can conjure up memories from their youth! —Karen Cranfield Parker

Mike Dwornik:

Although I never knew these guys personally, I am very familiar with the group. A few of us from Frankford would travel to Pres’quile Point to the outdoor Pavillion to listen to their music and dance with the wall flowers. I always thought the music was great and especially the Youngbloods and the Guess Who covers that were slow dancing tunes. I’ve always wondered what ever happened to this group. Now I found this site it has given me some closure.  —Mike Dwornik

Roger continues to returns home to Trenton & area to visit his family & friends.Roger still plays guitar and teaches a little ukulele on occasion and is an avid skier & instructor. —Lorraine Shepherd

Mary Jane Kelly:

Hi. I was wondering if Danny Thompson was the same singer I knew whose band went on tour with BTO (Bachman Turner Overdrive) back in the 1970′s. If he is one and the same I would love to contact him as we used to be good friends. From the pics, there is a possibility. —Mary Jane Kelly

Hi Karen, Dan Thompson mentioned this site to me last fall and I’ve just gotten around to having a look. Good for you to post this stuff. I honestly can’t remember the photo shoot at the train station….might be a reflection of the era. Any how I’m still playing with a Quinte area group called The Fade Kings, have been together since 1992 playing a great mix of Blues, R&B, Jazz and some Classic Rock. The Westury Union became “Freestone” (with Jake deVries replacing Randy on Bass. Jake plays bass and sings with the Fade Kings) and then morphed into “Boojum” which lasted for many years, constantly evolving to the point of no original members. A big hello to everyone from that era….lots of people have lots of great memories of the dances at Presquile. —Dave Impey

Andy Forgie:

Wow! I love this site. When myself and my friends were in our 8th & 9th grades – 68/69, we saw Westbury Union many times. A huge influence on our young band. Would never have believed that I’d be playing, all these years later, with Paul Lockyer, in our group All You Need Is Love. —Andy Forgie
